Sox Notes: Van Every traded back to Pittsburgh for minor league catcher

Posted by Joshua Kummins on May 31, 2010

According to MLB.com on Monday, the Red Sox have traded outfielder Jonathan Van Every back to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Single-A catcher Josue Peley.

After being re-acquired from the Pirates on April 24, he had appeared in 21 games for the Red Sox, going for 4-for-19.

Peley appeared in 19 games for Single-A West Virginia, hitting just .179 this season, but has thrown out 37 percent of runners at catcher.

Beckett walked two and struck out nine to earn his first decision of the spring.

Victor Martinez led the offense with two hits in three plate appearances, as he scored a run and two RBI.
